2022 - Year in Review
Time for my last blog post of 2022 - The Yearly Review.
I last did a proper one of these in 2019, then in the subsequent years they kinda fell off the radar as I did fewer weddings and photography work and more marketing work, but that’s all changed now, so let’s get into it!

“Colin managed the capture the absolute joy and love which filled our wedding day. Not only photos of ourselves but of our guests enjoying the day too. He captured every special moment from start to finish. We wasn't interested in standing for posed photographs for hours on end, we wanted someone who could capture the natural and beautiful moments as it happened. Colin did all that and more! Highly recommend!”

What's in my Kit Bag? / The Fuji X-H2 is Here!
As the year is coming to an end I’ve made the plunge and upgraded my kit.
With a few more weddings to shoot, but much more time in between I find the off-season to be a much better time to change gear. This allows me time to learn the new kit and how I work with it, whilst not being overwhelmed with work, I’ll also be using my old kit as a backup just incase I need it…

“Oh we love them!!! Thank you so much. We’re smiling so much in them!” - Beth + Alex
The weekend after the massive heatwave we had in the UK was Beth and Alex’s wedding at the always lovely Lyde Court and thankfully a much cooler day…
Mitakon 35mm F0.95 Lens for Fuji - Review
Full Disclosure. I’ve now sold this lens and opted for the Fuji 33mm 1.4 which given that it’s weather-resistant, has autofocus, and is just really really good means there was no room for this lens in my bag as well, even though it is a really special bit of glass.
Foraging in the woods with the Fuji X-H1 + 33mm 1.4 lens
I’ve been meaning to blog this for a while now, these shots were taken back in summer when my partner and I, along with our good friend went foraging in a local woodland.
I took the Fuji XH1 + 33mm which is my go-to one lens setup, it’s really light, takes super nice images and is just a pleasure to use > See my review of the Fuji 33mm lens here <
Behind the Scenes Wedding Photography at Lyde Court, Herefordshire
Mounting a GoPro onto my camera while I shoot candids…
Time to do something a little different and something that I’ve been meaning to do much more of this year - behind-the-scenes videos of how I shoot.
I chose to do these during the drinks reception as it’s a good time to move around and get a lot of different photos and also not such a crucial time of the day that I’ll find the GoPro distracting…
