My approach to weddings is to be candid, relaxed, and subtle.
Here’s how I photograph a wedding…
I’m a documentary wedding photographer, focused on capturing your day as it genuinely happens.
I take natural photos of you, your guests, and all the small details, without interrupting the flow of the day or barking orders at anyone.
Of course, I’m always happy to take a few family photos and some relaxed portraits of you too — these are kept quick, easy, and stress-free.
Put simply, my aim is to be there from start to finish, quietly documenting your wedding and delivering an honest collection of photographs that reflect what your day really felt like.
That way, you get to spend your time celebrating with your friends and family, rather than posing for photos for hours on end.

Getting ready
I usually start my day around two hours before the ceremony. This gives everyone time to get used to having me around and allows me to capture the getting-ready moments and all the important details of your wedding.
The morning is a great time to photograph things like dresses, flowers, invitations, and other thoughtful details you’ve chosen. These images help tell the full story of your day.
I keep wedding mornings relaxed and unobtrusive. I won’t interrupt hair or makeup just to get a photo — instead, I quietly document everything as it naturally unfolds, keeping the atmosphere light and stress-free.
The Ceremony
I always like to set aside a little time on the wedding day for some relaxed couple portraits.
These aren’t stiff or overly posed — just natural, flattering photos of you both, looking your best and enjoying the moment.
The key thing to know is that I’m not turning your wedding into a photoshoot. I work quickly and efficiently, making the most of the time we have to create beautiful images without pulling you away from the day you’ve planned. Everything is calm, easy, and unobtrusive.
Couple portraits usually move very fast, and I often take them while your guests are finding their seats for dinner. That way, you’re not missing out on the celebrations or spending long periods away from your friends and family — just a short breather together before the evening begins.
“For the most part, Colin seemed invisible; he was never getting in anyone's way, everyone around him felt at ease but at the same time, we knew all of our cherished moments were being captured.”

Drinks Reception
The drinks reception is one of my favourite parts of the day to photograph. It’s full of natural moments — guests catching up, hugs, laughter, and genuine emotion.
I move around quietly so people never feel like a camera is in their face. Most of the time, guests tell me they barely noticed I was there, which is exactly how I want it to be.
This part of the day is also perfect for capturing table details and décor, as well as taking care of any group photos, all without disrupting the flow of the celebrations.

Quick and easy group shots
I don’t want group photos to take up too much of your wedding day, so I keep things moving quickly and efficiently.
My aim is to get the shots we need without dragging things out, so you can get straight back to spending time with your guests.
I usually recommend around six group shots, which is a great balance between capturing the important people and keeping everything relaxed.
This typically takes around 10–15 minutes, making it easy to fit into the day without it feeling like a chore.
Speeches & Dinner
During the speeches, I work in a calm and unobtrusive way, capturing natural reactions from your guests and the speakers without making anyone feel like they’re part of a photoshoot.
I take plenty of photos as people are finding their seats, opening bottles of wine, and chatting with one another.
Once dinner is being served, I put the camera down and use that time to take a short break and prepare for the evening celebrations ahead.
This approach keeps the day flowing naturally while making sure every important moment is covered.
“We had the best evening at the weekend going through them all laughing and crying remembering just how amazing the day was. ”
