On the 6th June 2020 at 1pm residents of Cardiff gathered in Bute Park to hold a peaceful protest in support of the Black Lives Matter movement and support of eradicating racism in Cardiff and beyond.

Gathered around the stone circle with Cardiff castle in the background the organisers set up a makeshift stage and audio equipment, protestors started to arrive and all respected the rules and socially distanced themselves from others.

The protest took the form of speakers telling their own story of racist abuse they have suffered and their calls for change.

After the protest a march was held and taken to the Welsh Assembly Building where a 9 minute silence was held and the protest was wrapped up.

Not a single person was arrested, there wasn’t an ounce of violence, the protest was incredibly well organised and insightful.

All my images are shot on the Fuji X-H1 and the (stunning) Mitakon 35mm F0.95 lens, manual focus was indeed a challenge but I’m super happy with how the images came out.
