’How do you work on the wedding day?’
So, on the wedding day, I’ll arrive in the morning (timings will be worked out following the questionnaire) and check in with you and any venue staff, just so you know that I’ve arrived.
I usually start with various establishing shots and then move on to the preparation section of the day, and then it’s over to the ceremony. If your ceremony is on site I’ll be with you till about 10 minutes before, if it’s a drive away then I’ll need to leave enough time to get there and be ready for your arrival.
Later in the day, I’ll be there doing my documentary stuff, and then at an ideal spot it’s onto some quick group shots, I do these nice and quickly so you don’t lose much of your drinks reception time. As everyone is making their way to the meal I will take you off for some relaxed couples photos (there are tips for couple photos via this link), this fits in really well as it gives people time to find their seats so you’re not losing any time with guests.
Then I’ll take a break while you eat (that way people don’t have to be worried about being photographed with a mouth full of food) then it’s back for the evening party and I head off at about 9.00pm (But am happy to stay later if you need me to).
I’ve written a breakdown of a wedding day here that might help you with timings.
The above is a very rough plan for the day, you can do things totally differently but this should give you a brief idea of what I’ll be doing on the day.
