CLIENT PORTAL

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Hello!
Welcome to my client portal for wedding photography. This is an exclusive section of my website for couples who’ve booked me to cover their wedding and is packed with loads of tips for the day and a bunch of info about how I work.

Have a browse through, and as always give me a shout if you have any questions!

Let’s start with a little tree - 🌲

In an effort to become more sustainable, I plant a tree for each wedding I book, and as you’ve booked me, that’s another tree in the ground.

1 tree will sequester about 0.3 tons of carbon in its lifetime, which is around the same as driving 732 miles in a standard car, so that should cover my CO2 output for most weddings and then some.

I’m sure you have a mountain of things to do before the wedding and I know finding the time is super difficult, so I’ve put together this list of everything that you might need to know regarding your wedding photography so you’ve got it all in one place!

‘We’ve booked you (YAY), what happens now?’

There are two key things related to your wedding photography that come before the wedding, if you’ve got time to only do these two things then I can cover your wedding with no problems.

The remaining fee is due 28 days before the wedding, I’ll send a reminder then, so no need to worry about forgetting this.

I’ll need you to answer a questionnaire about your wedding day, I also send this out 28 days before the wedding and it has all the details I could possibly need to cover the day all in one place. I also find this can be helpful for couples in planning out the timeline of the day and throwing a few ideas out there.

’How do you work on the wedding day?’

So, on the wedding day, I’ll arrive in the morning (timings will be worked out following the questionnaire) and check in with you and any venue staff, just so you know that I’ve arrived.

I usually start with various establishing shots and then move on to the preparation section of the day, and then it’s over to the ceremony. If your ceremony is on site I’ll be with you till about 10 minutes before, if it’s a drive away then I’ll need to leave enough time to get there and be ready for your arrival.

Later in the day, I’ll be there doing my documentary stuff, and then at an ideal spot it’s onto some quick group shots, I do these nice and quickly so you don’t lose much of your drinks reception time. As everyone is making their way to the meal I will take you off for some relaxed couples photos (there are tips for couple photos via this link), this fits in really well as it gives people time to find their seats so you’re not losing any time with guests.

Then I’ll take a break while you eat (that way people don’t have to be worried about being photographed with a mouth full of food) then it’s back for the evening party and I head off at about 9.00pm (But am happy to stay later if you need me to).

I’ve written a breakdown of a wedding day here that might help you with timings.

The above is a very rough plan for the day, you can do things totally differently but this should give you a brief idea of what I’ll be doing on the day.

‘What happens after the wedding?’

My post-wedding work starts the night of the wedding. After I head home I’ll back up your wedding to a double hard drive, so at this point, there will be 4 copies of each photo, and then import it into my culling software as I crack open a beer and chill out a bit before bed.

Then I start with the culling and then onto the editing of the photos. All of this takes about 6-8 weeks in total, and at this point, I’ll get in touch with various links to your wedding gallery!

You will get an email a day or two after the wedding with a sneak peek and I’ll pop a post on Instagram so you have a little preview.

Then about 6-8 weeks later you will have your wedding photos! They are your photos so feel free to share them, print them, and really do anything you want with them. Nothing is ever watermarked and it’s all high-res files.

I’ll always keep a double copy on my hard drive and the online gallery, you’ll also have a USB stick of the images which I recommend making a backup of. If at any point you need another copy or lose the link to the gallery then I’m just an email away!

That’s it!

I hope you found that helpful, but at any time between now and the wedding if you need to get in touch then please do send me an email.

I’m more than happy to help answer any questions, they don’t have to be specifically photography related, I’ve shot over 150 weddings so if you got an idea that you’re not sure will work or anything like that then let me know and I can throw in my two cents.
