LOVING the Haybarn in Hereford for ceremonies! Fuji X-H1 + 56mm F1.2 Lens / Shot at F2.2

That first kiss.

"The magic of Colin is that he will capture the personal, unique atmosphere of your wedding day along with those special couple shots. When looking for a wedding photographer initially, we found it very difficult. Both of us wanted someone who would eternalise the unexpected, little moments that told the unique story of our community of friends and family, AND be able to produce couple portraits (and bridal portraits;)) that we would be able to look at with pride decades later. Although there were lots of wedding photographers out there, we usually found that most could do either one or the other. Then we came across Colin's website and we knew we had found it!

Colin was incredibly easy to work with, friendly, flexible, attentive and yet almost like a fly on the wall. When we got our wedding pictures back, the first thing my mother said was: "wow, this feels like a time machine. I am transported right back to that golden day of happiness". That's what we wanted and that's what Colin gave us! So if you are about to get married and wand a time machine to live the day over and over again, just go ahead and hire him!"

I arrive at The Haybarn in the morning and unpack my gear, but not before slapping on round 1 of factor 30. A quick run around the venue to get some establishing shots and then it’s upstairs to meet up with Sandhya + her bridesmaids for getting ready photos.

I’m on the 33mm a lot more at this wedding and I’m starting to find that it’s a really nice focal length to work with!

I head over to the glamping site where George is getting ready and reading one of 3 handwritten notes from his bride-to-be before jumping into the stream for a pre-wedding dip.

I head up to the car for round 2 of factor 30.

Then, it’s everyone to the barn for the ceremony which is decorated with the most incredible flowers. I really love shooting here as the barn has an open back and side, meaning there’s tons of nice light and you can move from behind the couple at the front to the back of the room as needed.

Ceremony is over, it’s confetti, drinks, canapes, and some family photos. There are garden games (made by George), fire pits, and LOTS of sun.

I quickly head up to the car for round 3 of factor 30, there’s no way I’m getting burnt today!

As the guests head to find their seats I take the bride and groom off for some relaxed couples portraits, I always like to do it at this time of the day as it fits in well and keeps the flow.

The bride and groom are then ready for their entrance into the barn, followed by food, drinks, and speeches. The barn is then cleared out for the upcoming cèilidh.

If you’ve never heard of a cΓ¨ilidh (pronounced Kay-lee) it’s a traditional Gaelic folk dance, everyone gets involved and it’s super fun chaos. I planted myself in the middle for the best vantage point and just tried to avoid being taken out by the dancing guests!

And that was it! I didn’t get sunburn and had the msot awesome time at this wedding. I packed my gear and drove home, cracked open a beer, and backed up all 6000+ images which I shot.

The wedding was shot on my usual gear <
