I’m sure you have a mountain of things to do before the wedding and I know finding the time is super difficult, so I’ve put together this list of everything that you might need to know regarding your wedding videography so you’ve got it all in one place!
‘We’ve booked you (YAY), what happens now?’
There are two key things related to your wedding videography that come before the wedding, if you’ve got time to only do these two things then I can cover your wedding with no problems.
The remaining fee is due 28 days before the wedding, I’ll send a reminder then, so no need to worry about forgetting this, you can of course pay before this or in installments, just let me know.
I’ll need you to answer a questionnaire about your wedding day, I also send this out 28 days before the wedding and it has all the details I could possibly need to cover the day all in one place. I also find this can be helpful for couples in planning out the timeline of the day and throwing a few ideas out there.
’How do you work on the wedding day?’
So, on the wedding day, I’ll arrive in the morning (timings will be worked out following the questionnaire) and check in with you guys and any venue staff, just so you know that I’ve arrived and am on site.
I usually start with various establishing shots and then move on to the preparation section of the day, then it’s over to the ceremony. If your ceremony is on site I’ll be with you till about 15 minutes before, if it’s a drive away then I’ll need to leave enough time to get there, get my gear set up, and be ready for your arrival.
Later in the day, I’ll be there doing my documentary stuff, and then when it’s time for group photos I’ll tag along with your photographer.
Then I’ll take a break while you eat (that way people don’t have to be worried about being filmed with a mouth full of food) then it’s back for the evening party and I head off at about 9.00pm.
I’ve written a breakdown of a wedding day here that might help you with timings. (This is geared towards photography, but the general timeline is still the same)
The above is a very rough plan for the day, you can do things totally differently but this should give you a brief idea of what I’ll be doing on the day.
‘What happens after the wedding?’
My post-wedding work starts the night of the wedding. After I head home I’ll back up your wedding to a double hard drive, so at this point, there will be 3 copies of each clip, and then import it into my culling software as I crack open a beer and chill out a bit before bed.
Then I crack on with the culling and then onto the editing of the video. All of this takes about 6-8 weeks in total, and at this point, I’ll get in touch with various links to your wedding films!
Then you will have your wedding films! They are your films so feel free to share them and really do anything you want with them. Nothing is ever watermarked and it’s all high-res files.
I’ll always keep a double copy on my hard drive and the online gallery, you’ll also have a USB stick of the films which I recommend making a backup of. If at any point you need another copy or lose the link to the gallery then I’m just an email away!
I’ll deliver your wedding films 6-8 weeks after your wedding date.
