Ernest + Another Place - Lake District Editorial Photography
Working in the Lake District for Ernest Journal. - Fuji XH-1 + 23mm 1.4 lens.
Last year I was fortunate enough to be asked to come on assignment once for Ernest Journal.
Ernest is a bi-annual magazine focusing on slow journalism and is a publication I’ve been working for for a number of years, it’s always great fun when I get an email from Ernest and this trip wasn’t any different.
For this issue of Ernest my main goal was to get photos of Another Place: The Lake, a boutique hotel in the Lake District, as well as the nearby attractions and to give a sense of really being at the hotel. I was there for a few days, photographing in and around the hotel as well as donning a wetsuit (which I put on backwards, score one for me) and very carefully holding my XH-1 above the water while shooting some wild swimming.
For this shoot my main gear was my XH-1 with the 23, 56 and 50-140mm lenses, overall I delivered about 300 photos from this shoot but I’ll only show a few here. I also used the GoPro Hero 5 for a couple of underwater shots.
